Instagram Creator Week 2022 - Featured Artist
Meta/Instagram NFT Marketplace Launch
In November 2022, I was selected as one of three featured artists for Instagram's groundbreaking Creator Week 2022, representing the evolution of Meta's "Digital Collectibles" initiative from pilot to full marketplace launch.

Following Instagram's initial NFT pilot announced in May 2022, this program marked the platform's strategic expansion into creator monetization through blockchain technology, allowing creators to mint, showcase, and sell NFTs directly through the app.

Program Highlights:

Selected from thousands of creators worldwide as one of only three featured artists.
Participated in the pioneering launch of Instagram's NFT marketplace functionality.
Featured alongside internationally acclaimed artists Deface and Maliha Abidi (creator of the celebrated "Women Rise" collection)

Recognized as a leading voice in Afro-surrealist and Afrofuturist digital art.
Strategic Significance: As Instagram CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized the platform's commitment to "lean into all the different ways that creators could make money," my selection represented Meta's vision of blockchain-enabled creator monetization.

With Instagram's billion-plus user base, even engaging a small percentage of users with NFTs translates to massive business potential - positioning my work at the forefront of this digital transformation.

Recognition & Impact: As a Zimbabwean digital artist, my selection for this exclusive program represented Meta's commitment to showcasing diverse, innovative creators from the Global South. My work was highlighted for its "spectacular art and important messages," contributing to the platform's vision of democratizing digital art access and ownership.

Media Coverage: The program received extensive coverage in major tech and art publications including TechCrunch, Creative Bloq, and Decrypt, establishing it as a landmark moment in the intersection of social media and digital art.

This achievement marked a pivotal moment in my career, validating my approach to digital storytelling and positioning my work within the broader conversation about the future of art, technology, and cultural representation.
